from the injured reserve list and placed center Mike Richards
on IR due to an upper- body injury.
Penner has missed the last nine games due to an upper-body injury suffered on Nov. 10 in a game against Vancouver. In 14 games this season he has two assists and 25 penalty minutes.
Richards was injured during L.A.'s 2-1 victory against Florida on Thursday night. He has played in all 25 games this season, his first with the club, and he has 20 points including a team-high 11 goals and a team-high two shorthanded goals. He also has 17 penalty minutes.
Florida teams swap players --
The Tampa Bay Lightning
and Florida Panthers
made a four-player deal Friday involving skaters with their AHL affiliates. Tampa Bay sent defenseman Michael Vernace
and forward James Wright
to Florida in exchange for defensemen Michael Kostka
and Evan Oberg
Vernace, 26, had two goals and 12 points in 22 games for the Norfolk Admirals, Tampa Bay's top affiliate, while Wright, a 21-year-old center taken in the fourth round (No. 117) by the Lightning in the 2008 NHL Draft, had a goal and five points in 22 games.
Kostka, who turned 26 on Monday, had two goals and six assists for the San Antonio Rampage, Florida's top affiliate, after scoring 16 goals and 54 points for Rochester last season when the Americans were the Panthers' AHL farm team.
Oberg, 23, had two assists in 12 games with the Rampage. He has played in four career NHL games with Vancouver after signing as an undrafted free agent with the Canucks on April 10, 2009. Oberg was acquired by Florida along with the Canucks’ third-round choice in 2013 in exchange for Chris Higgins
on Feb. 28, 2011.
Senators and Hawks make deal --
The Ottawa Senators
acquired forward Rob Klinkhammer
from the Chicago Blackhawks
in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft.
Klinkhammer will join Ottawa's AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. The 25-year-old has two goals and four assists in 18 games with the Blackhawks' AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs. He has 56 goals and 133 points in 308 AHL games, and was scoreless in one NHL contest with the Blackhawks on Dec. 7, 2010.
Jackets activate Huselius --

activated left wing Kristian Huselius
off injured reserve after he missed the season’s first 25 games due to a pectoral injury suffered while lifting weights in his native Sweden in early July.
Huselius, 33, has registered 190 goals and 261 assists for 451 points and has 254 penalty minutes in 660 career NHL games with Florida, Calgary and Columbus. The Panthers’ second pick (No. 47) in the 1997 NHL Draft has tallied 58-84-142 and 90 penalty minutes in 187 games with the Blue Jackets since signing as a free agent on July 2, 2008.
Flyers bring back Walker --

recalled 31-year-old defenseman Matt Walker
from the AHL Adirondack Phantoms, their top minor-league affiliate.
Walker, who will add size at 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, has 16 penalty minutes in three games for the Flyers this season. With Adirondack, he has a goal and an assist for two points in 10 games, along with 21 PIM.
Predators send Laakso to Milwaukee --
The Nashville Predators
announced that defenseman Teemu Laakso
has cleared waivers and been assigned to their AHL affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals.
Laakso, 24, has played nine games for the Predators this season, going pointless and posting eight penalty minutes while averaging 11:26 of ice time.
