NBCSP to show Bruins-Caps on Sunday

A Caps game is a Super Bowl Sunday tradition in Washington, and this year is no different -- except for the opponent.

The Boston Bruins, losers of three of four, travel to the Verizon Center to face the Capitals in the first of four afternoon games, all in the Eastern Conference. The game will be televised on NBC Sports Network, with puck drop at 12:30 p.m.

It’s a quick turnaround for both teams. Washington will look to build on its 3-0 shutout win in Montreal on Saturday afternoon, while the Bruins come to the nation's capital after a 2-1 home loss to Pittsburgh -- who've been the Verizon Center visitor in each of the last two years.

The Canadiens – losers of three straight since the season restart – are also back in action. The Habs welcome the Winnipeg Jets to Bell Centre at 2 p.m. ET in  a game that can be seen in Canada on CBC and RDS. The Jets come to Montreal for the last game of their road trip after losing 2-1 at Florida on Friday.

Pittsburgh travels to New Jersey for a 1 p.m. ET meeting with the Devils, who are back home after Saturday's 6-4 win in Philadelphia. The Flyers will try to avoid a lost weekend when they visit the New York Rangers, also at 1 p.m. The teams will meet for the first time since the Rangers rallied for a 3-2 win in the Bridgestone Winter Classic on Jan. 2 at Citizens Bank Park. The Rangers have been off since a 1-0 shootout win in Buffalo on Wednesday.
