NEW YORK - Three-time Juno Award-winning singer-songwriter Sam Roberts is one of the performers for the AMP Energy NHL Winter Classic outdoor game on New Year’s Day at Ralph Wilson Stadium, home of the National Football League’s Buffalo Bills.

Roberts will perform songs from his band’s latest album, Chemical City, during the second intermission. His 2002 album, The Inhuman Condition, is one of the best-selling independent releases in Canadian music history and features that year’s biggest single, "Brother Down."  His 2003 album, We Were Born In a Flame, earned him the Canadian Juno Award for "Album of the Year" and "Rock Album of the Year."  Roberts also was named Canada's "Artist of the Year" for his efforts.

Irish tenor Ronan Tynan will sing "God Bless America" and long-time Buffalo Sabres anthem singer Doug Allen will perform the Canadian National Anthem prior to the start of the game.

The AMP Energy NHL Winter Classic will feature the Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins in the League’s first regular-season outdoor game in the United States. More than 70,000 fans are expected to attend the New Year’s Day game at Ralph Wilson Stadium, home of the National Football League’s Buffalo Bills. NBC will provide live broadcast coverage of the historic game in the U.S., starting at 1 p.m. E.T. and CBC and RDS will provide coverage throughout Canada.  NHL RADIO on Westwood One will provide exclusive, national radio coverage which can be heard on stations around the United States and Canada as well as on XM Satellite Radio's NHL Home Ice and NHL.com.
