Montreal forward Esposito and Cape Breton goalie Roy named players of week

BOUCHERVILLE, Que. - Montreal Juniors forward Angelo Esposito was named Quebec Major Junior Hockey League offensive player of the week Monday.

Cape Breton Screaming Eagles goaltender Olivier Roy was named defensive player of the week.

Esposito had two goals and five assists in two games last week. Mathieu Tousignant of the P.E.I. Rocket, Cedric Lalonde-McNicoll of the Shawinigan Cataractes and Chris Culligan of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles were also considered.

Roy recorded two victories last week - including a shutout - while posting a 1.00 goals-against average and .961 save percentage. Drew Paris of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, T.J. Brennan of the Montreal Junior and Charles Lavigne of the Quebec Remparts were also considered.

Giants forward Pierro-Zabotel named WHL player of week

CALGARY - Vancouver Giants forward Casey Pierro-Zabotel was named Western Hockey League player of the week Monday.

He had two goals and five assists in two victories last week.

Spokane Chiefs netminder Dustin Tokarski was nominated for the Canadian Hockey League goaltender of the week award.

He posted a 2-0-0-1 record last week with a shutout. Tokarski allowed four goals on 89 shots for a 1.30 goals-against average and .955 save percentage.

Stefan Della Rovere of Barrie Colts named OHL player of week

TORONTO - Stefan Della Rovere of the Barrie Colts was named Ontario Hockey League player of the week Monday.

He scored four goals and had three assists in two games last week.

Oshawa Generals forward John Tavares and Matt Caria of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds were also considered.
