Monk scores winner as U.S. earns women's U18 win over Canada @NHLdotcom

CALGARY - Stephanie Monk scored the game-winning goal and the United States' under-18 women's hockey team struck three times in the third period in a 4-3 exhibition win over Canada on Monday.

Kendall Coyne had a short-handed goal to open the scoring and added an assist for the Americans, while Alexandra Carpenter and Haley Skarupa added power-play goals in the third period.

The U.S. won despite being outshot 40-24. Alex Rigsby made 37 saves in the American goal.

Jamie Lee Rattray led Canada with a goal and an assist. Jillian Saulnier and Jessica Campbell added power-play goals.

Erica Howe stopped 20 shots for Canada.
