NBC Sports commentator Al Michaels, whose memorable call of the "Miracle on Ice" at the 1980 Olympic Winter Games made broadcast history, is Thursday’s guest on NHL Hour With Commissioner Gary Bettman on NHL.com and SIRIUS XM Radio.
The show, presented live from the International Broadcast Centre in Vancouver, will air at 6 p.m. ET.
Michaels, one of the most prominent members of his profession, is recognized for his iconic call, "Do you believe in miracles? YES!" as time expired on the 4-3 U.S. victory against the Soviet Union at the 1980 Winter Olympics. That victory set Team USA up for a gold medal win on home soil (Lake Placid) -- an Olympic feat that has not been matched since.
The Olympic hockey competition continues Friday with semifinal round games -- Team USA will play Finland at 3 p.m. ET, while Canada will take on Team Slovakia at 9:30 p.m. ET.
The matchup for the March 14 "Game of the Week" on NBC Sports will also be announced during NHL Hour With Commissioner Gary Bettman.
NHL Hour with Commissioner Gary Bettman broadcasts live on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET on NHL Home Ice (XM Channel 204 and on SIRIUS Channel 208 as part of the "Best of XM" programming package) and NHL.com. The show will re-air on SIRIUS XM Radio, with archived shows available for download via podcast on NHL.com.
