CRANBROOK, B.C. - Kootenay Ice forward Michael Stickland and defenceman Eric Frere each had two goals in an 8-2 rout over the Red Deer Rebels in WHL action Friday night.
Ice (40-20-5-3) defenceman Eric Frere opened the scoring on a long wrist shot that beat Rebels' (18-43-4-3) goalie David Aime on the stick side.
Ben Maxwell made it 2-0 on a shorthanded breakaway on a backhand deke.
On a two man advantage Colby Kulhanek scored after finding a loose puck in the slot for the Rebels.
Steve DaSilva scored a short handed goal to make it 3-1 with a wrist shot high on the glove side.
In the second period Kootenay made it 4-1 as Dustin Sylvester scored on a high snapshot.
Rebels forward Mike Krgovich made the score 4-2 on a deflection on a point shot from Colin Archer.
Late in the second period Frere scored his second of the game on a long slap shot.
Stickland scored on a deflection on a point shot from John Negrin early in the third period, which chased Aime from the net for the Rebels. He was replaced by Morgan Clark.
But it didn't affect Stickland who scored his second of the period to make it 7-2.
Arnaud Jacquemet ended the scoring.
