Michael Chaput scores twice to help Monsters get past Moose 3-1 @NHLdotcom

WINNIPEG - Michael Chaput scored twice as the Lake Erie Monsters toppled the Manitoba Moose 3-1 on Thursday night in American Hockey League action.

Chaput put Lake Erie ahead at 15:13 of the second period before adding an empty netter in the third.

Lukas Sedlak tied the game 1-1 with a goal at 13:45 of the second period for the Monsters (2-1-1), an affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Joel Armia opened the scoring with a power-play goal for the Moose (0-3-2).

Anton Forsberg made 17 saves for the win in net. Connor Hellebuyck turned away 33 shots for the Winnipeg Jets' farm club.

The Monsters were 0 for 2 on the power play while Manitoba scored once on three chances.
