Melrose talks trade deadline on NHL Live

by Staff

NHL Network analyst Barry Melrose joined NHL Live to share his thoughts on the final 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series game in Chicago, Vancouver Canucks coach John Tortorella's decision to start goalie Eddie Lack against the Ottawa Senators at the 2014 Tim Hortons Heritage Classic, and who should be buyers or sellers at the 2014 NHL Trade Deadline.

One team Melrose picked to be sellers are the Carolina Hurricanes, who at 26-26-9 are seven points out of the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.

"It might be time for them, with the injuries that they've had, to look at that team and say we're not going to do it this year," Melrose said. "Let's try and get some assets, let's try and get some draft picks, and let's try and get some prospects to get us going next year.

"I really think the 'Canes are pretty well done this year. There's no signs of life, no signs of really believing that this team can get things turned around quickly."
