McRae has eventual winner as Plymouth Whalers out-pace Greyhounds 5-2

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Phil McRae had the eventual winner as the Plymouth Whalers swam to a 5-2 win over the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in Ontario Hockey League playoff action.

Top prospect Tyler Seguin had a power-play goal for Plymouth, while James Livingston, AJ Jenks and Joe Gaynor added singles.

Matt Hackett made 11 saves on 12 shots in the first period. Scott Wedgewood was in net to start the second period, stopping 13 shots for the win.

Jake Carrick and Vern Cooper tallied for Sault Ste. Marie, while Robin Lehner turned aside 43 shots.

"We started to get a lot of shots and it was a matter of time before they started to go in," said McRae. "Finally, we were able to break them down and get a couple of goals."

The quarter-final series is tied 1-1, with Game 3 in Sault Ste. Marie Tuesday night.
