CALGARY - Carson McMillan scored in a shootout to lead the Calgary Hitmen to a 3-2 win over the Kootenay Ice in WHL action Saturday night.

Ian Barteaux and Kevin King scored goals in the third period for the Ice to force overtime, where they outshot the Hitmen 3-1.

Calgary goalie Dan Spence stopped 29 of 31 shots he faced in the game and all four he faced in the shootout. Kootenay goalie Thomas Heemskerk made 19 saves before stopping three of four in the shootout.

McMillan and defenceman Alex Plante were playing in their first WHL games of the season after being returned to the Hitmen by the Minnesota Wild and Edmonton Oilers respectively.

Kootenay blue-liner John Negrin made his return to the Ice lineup after taking part in training camp with the Calgary Flames.
