McGrath and Harper both score two as Everett pummels Tri-City 6-1

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Rookie D. Jay McGrath and Shane Harper each scored twice and Kent Simpson finished with 36 saves as the Everett Silvertips beat the Tri-City Americans 6-1 on Saturday night in Western Hockey League action.

Kellan Tochkin and Byron Froese also scored for Everett (16-8-1), which got two assists from Campbell Elynuik.

After winning nine straight home games to start the season, the Americans (19-8-0) have lost three of four at home. Tri-City hadn't lost back-to-back games at home since the 2007-08 season.

Sergei Drozd scored the lone goal for the Americans in the second period, while starter Drew Owsley took the loss, stopping 25 of 30 shots before being replaced by Brett Martyniuk in the third period.
