Martin has winner as Kootenay Ice double Red Deer Rebels 4-2
NHL.com @NHLdotcomRED DEER, Alta. - James Martin's late goal was the winner as the Kootenay Ice downed the Red Deer Rebels 4-2 in Western Hockey League play Friday night.
Jesse Ismond and Max Reinhart notched their 21st goals of the season for Kootenay (42-24-5), which got an empty-net marker from Ryan Molle in the final minute.
Alex Petrovic and Turner Elson replied for Red Deer (39-27-5).
Ice netminder Todd Mathews made 38 saves, while Darcy Kuemper stopped 25 shots for the Rebels.
