Forward Daniel Winnik signed a one-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs, the team announced Monday. Financial terms were not disclosed, but Craig Custance of ESPN.com reported Winnik will make $1.3 million.
Winnik, 29, had career highs in assists (24) and points (30) in 76 games for the Anaheim Ducks last season. He also had one assist and two penalty minutes while averaging 13:36 of ice time in nine Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Selected in the ninth round (No. 265) by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2004 NHL Draft, Winnik has 49 goals and 150 points in 490 games with the Coyotes, Colorado Avalanche, San Jose Sharks and Ducks.
