OWEN SOUND, Ont. - Chris MacKinnon continued his hot start to the season, notching two goals and two assists as the Kitchener Rangers held off a comeback attempt by Owen Sound to edge the Attack 6-5 on Saturday night in the Ontario Hockey League.
MacKinnon has 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in five games this season. The Aurora, Ont., native led Kitchener last season with 85 points.
The Rangers (4-0-0-1) led 6-2 at the end of the second period, going 3-for-5 on the power play, but Owen Sound fought back in the third with goals from Garrett Wilson, Bobby Mignardi and Joey Hishon to pull within one with less than a minute remaining.
Michael Catenacci, Tyler Randell, Jeff Skinner and Gabriel Landeskog also scored for Kitchener, which is undefeated in regulation to start the season after missing the playoffs last season.
Mignardi finished with two goals, Hishon had a goal and two assists and Steven Shipley added a goal for the Attack (1-5-1-0).
Mavric Parks made 33 saves for the Rangers, while Owen Sound netminder Scott Stajcer was pulled after allowing five goals on 22 shots. His replacement, Jordon Binnington, stopped 19 of 20 shots.
