Machacek has two goal, including OT winner, as Vancouver edges Chilliwack 5-4 @NHLdotcom

CHILLIWACK (CP) - Spencer Machacek scored twice, including the OT winner, to lead the Vancouver Giants to a 5-4 victory over the Chilliwack Bruins in Western Hockey League action on Sunday.

J.D. Watt, Kenndal McArdle and Evander Kane, with his first WHL goal, also scored for Vancouver (45-17-3-7), which won the season series over Chilliwack 8-0-0.

The teams are set to meet in Round 1 of the playoffs beginning Friday in Vancouver.

Ken Petkau, with two, Josh Aspenlind and Oscar Moller replied for Chilliwack (25-40-5-2), which saw its two-game winning streak snapped.

The Bruins led 4-0 2:01 into the second period, but the Giants rallied back and Kane tied the game with 8:21 remaining in the third frame.

In overtime, Aspenlind hit the post on a penalty shot, but forty seconds later, Machacek blasted a power-play slapshot past Bruins netminder Alex Archibald to give the Giants the win.

Archibald finished with 32 saves, while Blaine Neufeld had 16 stops for the Giants.
