Lightning's St. Louis struck in face by puck @NHLdotcom

NEW YORK (AP) - Martin St. Louis sat out the Tampa Bay Lightning's game against the New York Rangers on Thursday night after being hit in the face by a puck during the morning skate, ending his consecutive games streak at 499.

St. Louis was hit near his left eye when Dominic Moore shot wide of the net Thursday. The Lightning star forward was bleeding when he left the ice at Madison Square Garden and was assisted to the dressing room by a trainer.

The team said St. Louis will return to Tampa Bay immediately and will undergo further medical examination by team physicians when swelling subsides.

St. Louis' consecutive games streak was the second-longest current run behind Calgary defenseman Jay Boumeester's 531-game streak.
