Lieuwen makes 25 saves as Kootenay Ice shut out Lethbridge Hurricanes 2-0 @NHLdotcom

CRANBROOK, B.C. - Kootenay Ice goalie Nathan Lieuwen made 25 saves for his seventh career shutout in a 2-0 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes in Western Hockey League action Tuesday night.

Sam Reinhart and Jesse Ismond supplied the offence for Kootenay (2-0-1).

Damien Ketlo made 25 saves for Lethbridge (1-1-0).

The Hurricanes had a goal disallowed just 52 seconds into the game. The referees ruled the puck was touched by a high stick before it hit the post and was then put into the net by Graham Hood.

The Ice opened the scoring after creating a turnover at the Hurricane blue-line and had an odd-man rush that was finished by Ismond on a feed from Elgin Pearce.

Ismond and Pearce have points in three straight games.

Kootenay made it 2-0 as Reinhart took the puck off the boards and went to the net and from in close picked the top corner high on the stick side. Mike Simpson earned his first point in the WHL on the goal.
