Lewiston defenceman Garrett Clarke gets 12-game suspension for cross-check @NHL

BOUCHERVILLE, Que. - Lewiston Maineiacs defenceman Garrett Clarke was given a 12-game suspension Tuesday for cross-checking an opponent in the head during a game against the Victoriaville Tigres last Friday.

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League also gave Tigres defenceman Pierre-Luc Pelletier a five-game ban for a hit from behind when the two teams met again the next day.

Clarke was given a major penalty and a game misconduct after the incident, which occurred with just eight seconds left in regulation with Lewiston holding a 7-2 lead.

Victoriaville picked up a 3-0 victory in the rematch Saturday.
