Lethbridge secures WHL playoff spot with 7-1 drubbing of Kootenay @NHLdotcom

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - Mitch Fadden scored twice and the Lethbridge Hurricanes used five first-period goals to earn a 7-1 win over the Kootenay Ice on Tuesday.

Carter Bancks, Zach Boychuk, Cam Braes, Colton Sceviour and Nick Hotson added singles as the Hurricanes (36-16-2-3) officially secured a playoff spot. Juha Metsola made 21 saves as Lethbridge beat the Ice for the first time in five tries this season.

Kootenay (33-19-4-2) got a late third-period goal from Zach Sim while Kris Lazaruk and Thomas Heemskerk each saw time in net, facing 40 shots.
