Leopold helps Blues beat Wild @NHLdotcom

Jordan Leopold scored the go-ahead goal 5:33 into the third period to help the St. Louis Blues to a 4-1 preseason win against the Minnesota Wild at Scottrade Center in the opener of a home-and-home series.

Leopold had a wide-open net after a pass by Vladimir Tarasenko and beat out-of-position Niklas Backstrom to snap a 1-1 tie. T.J Oshie scored a power-play goal with 2:51 remaining, and David Backes scored into the empty net with 1:29 to play.

Jason Zucker put the Wild ahead at 19:08 of the first period with an unassisted goal, but Patrik Berglund tied it 7:55 into the second period.

Backstrom made 33 saves. Jake Allen stopped 14 shots for the Blues, who visit Minnesota on Saturday.
