The Toronto Maple Leafs in Friday re-signed restricted free-agent forward Nikolai Kulemin to a two-year contract. No financial terms were disclosed.

Kulemin, 23, appeared in 78 games with the Maple Leafs last season, scoring 16 goals and adding 20 assists along with 16 penalty minutes. The 6-1, 225-pound Russian led the Maple Leafs with two overtime goals and was tied for second in game-winning goals with three. He posted a six-game point streak from March 7-16, registering four goals and four assists in that span.

In 151 career NHL games with Toronto, Kulemin has recorded 67 points (31 goals, 36 assists) and 34 penalty minutes. He was selected by the Maple Leafs in the second round (No. 44) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Published reports also say the Leafs have re-signed center John Mitchell to a one-year deal after declining to make him a qualifying offer prior to July 1.
