Latta scores game winner, Ottawa opens OHL campaign with 5-4 win over Barrie @NHLdotcom

BARRIE, Ont. - Michael Latta's goal 43 seconds into the third period stood as the game winner as the Ottawa 67s opened their Ontario Hockey League regular season Thursday with a 5-4 win over the Barrie Colts.

Jon Carnevale added a pair of goals for the 67s, who erased a 3-1 first period deficit with three straight goals in the second. Julien Demers had a goal and an assist while Marc Methot also scored for Ottawa.

Tyler Cuma and Logan Couture added two assists apiece, while Chris Perugini outduelled older brother Andrew for the victory. Chris, 16, was sensational in a 42-save performance, while Andrew, 19, stopped 32 shots in defeat.

Daniel Michalsky had a goal and an assist in a losing cause for the Colts, who dropped their home opener in front of 3,270 at the Barrie Molson Centre. Ryan Gottschalk, Alex Hutchings and Cory McGillis added singles, while Kris Sparre chipped in with a pair of assists.
