Latest weather forecast for Classic

by NHL.com Staff
Snow appears less likely, but the weather forecast continues to call for a cold day when the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings play the Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic on Thursday at Wrigley Field.

Early Tuesday morning, weather.com was calling for a low temperature of 24 degrees and a high of 32 for Thursday, with the chance of precipitation dropping to just 10 percent from 30 a day earlier. Skies are expected to be mostly cloudy when the teams take to the ice.

The game will be the conclusion of a home-and-home that begins Tuesday night in Detroit. While the teams play at Joe Louis Arena, the forecast for Chicago on Tuesday calls for late-day snow showers and temperatures ranging from 17 to 38 degrees.

New Year's Eve is expected to be the coldest day of the week, with Wednesday's temperatures dipping to a low of 18 and a high of just 22 with partly cloudy skies.
