VANCOUVER - Andrej Kudrna scored his first three WHL goals and added an assist as the Vancouver Giants whipped the Seattle Thunderbirds 10-2 on Friday night.
The Giants (5-0-0-1) remain unbeaten in regulation time this season while Seattle (0-5-0-0) is winless in five games.
Kudrna, a 16-year-old native of Nove Zamky, Slovakia, who is not eligible for the NHL draft until next year, now has six points in his first five major junior games.
Mike Berube, Gary Nunn, Adam Basford, Casey Pierro-Zabotel, James Henry, Evander Kane, and James Wright also scored for the Giants before a crowd of 6,123 at the Pacific Coliseum.
David Richard and Sena Acolatse replied for the Thunderbirds. Seattle managed only five shots in the first 40 minutes while being outshot 35-13 on the night.
Vancouver went two-for-six on the power play and also netted a shorthanded marker. Seattle scored on one of six man-advantage opportunities.
The Giants led 3-0 after the first period and 4-0 after the second.
Tyson Sexsmith picked up his second victory in goal for Vancouver and also recorded an assist.
Rookie goaltender Calvin Pickard played the first two periods for Seattle, allowing seven goals on 26 shots. Jacob DeSerres allowed three goals on nine shots in the third.
