EDMONTON - Jordan Knackstedt scored in overtime as the Moose Jaw Warriors defeated the Edmonton Oil Kings 3-2 Sunday in Western Hockey League action.
Knackstedt drove hard to the net 3:23 into overtime and buried the puck through the pads of Oil Kings netminder Alex Archibald.
Moose Jaw (16-11-2-0) opened the scoring 5:33 into the first period when Joel Broda's sharp angle shot rebounded in the slot off Archibald to Martin Filo, who wristed it glove-side.
The Warriors extended their lead to two just 18 seconds into the second period. Knackstedt won a battle in the corner and passed the puck out in front for Frazer McLaren, who chipped it over Archibald's shoulder.
Brent Henke was awarded a penalty shot at the 2:58 after Ryan Stanton interfered on the breakaway. Henke faked backhand and shot towards the glove corner, but Moose Jaw goaltender Joey Perricone got enough of it with his shoulder to deflect it over the net.
Craig McCallum brought the Oil Kings (10-15-2-3) within one six minutes into the third with a blistering slapshot. It was his first goal in 10 games, his last coming against Moose Jaw on November 7th in a 5-3 victory.
Tomas Vincour tied the game at 2-2 with a slapper of his own with 9:29 remaining, beating Perricone through the legs.
Archibald made 33 saves for the Oil Kings, while Perricone stopped 34 pucks for Moose Jaw.
