Kitchener Rangers rely on big second period to top Saginaw Spirit 4-1

SAGINAW, Mich. - The Kitchener Rangers scored three times in the second period goals to dismiss the Saginaw Spirit 4-1 in Ontario Hockey League play Friday night.

Radek Faksa had a goal and an assist for Kitchener (2-0-0) and Zach Lorentz, Matia Marcantuoni and Jonathan Jasper also scored. Jasper's stood as the winner.

Tobias Rieder and Michael Catenacci both added a pair of assists for the Rangers.

Peter Hermenegildo scored the only goal for Saginaw (1-3-0), who suffered their second straight loss.

John Gibson was outstanding in net for Kitchener stopping 35 of 36 shots.

Tadeas Galansky had 21 saves for the Spirit as they outshot Kitchener 36-25.

Both teams had trouble on the power play with Saginaw going 0-for-5 and Kitchener 1-for-6 with the man advantage.
