Jets announce 5 signings, including a few locals @NHL

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) - The Winnipeg Jets have signed several free agents, including several with local connections.

Winnipeg native Derek Meech and former Manitoba Moose forward Rick Rypien and defenseman Mark Flood were among the six players signed by the Jets on Monday.

The Jets also agreed to terms with defenseman Randy Jones, winger Tanner Glass and center Aaron Gagnon.

Jones signed a $1.15 million, one-year deal to join his fourth team in as many seasons. He had a goal and 12 assists for Tampa Bay last season.

Meech, also a defenseman, appeared in 126 games for the Detroit Red Wings over the last four years and received a one-year deal that will pay him $700,000.

Glass signed a $750,000, one-year deal while Rypien signed on for one season at $700,000.
