Islanders host Rangers on Wednesday Night Rivalry

by John Kreiser

The New York Rangers will make their first trip to Brooklyn when they visit the New York Islanders in this week's Wednesday Night Rivalry game (8 p.m. ET; NBCSN, TVA Sports).

It will be the Rangers' first game as the visiting team inside an arena within New York City since March 3, 1942, when they played to a 4-4 tie with the Brooklyn Americans, who, despite their name, played their home games at Madison Square Garden. The Islanders are in their first season at Barclays Center after playing their home games at Nassau Coliseum since entering the NHL in 1972.

Each team is coming off a home win in Monday. The Rangers ended a three-game losing streak by holding off the Carolina Hurricanes 4-3; the Islanders defeated the Colorado Avalanche 5-3.
