Hurricanes hand Coyotes sixth straight loss with blowout 7-2 win @NHLdotcom

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Tuomo Ruutu scored twice, and Sergei Samsonov added a goal and three assists to help the Carolina Hurricanes beat Phoenix 7-2 on Saturday night, the Coyotes' sixth straight loss.

Eric Staal, who was a game-time decision because of a lower-body injury, and Matt Cullen, Chad LaRose and Patrick Eaves also scored for Carolina.

Carolina's sixth win in eight games since dropping five straight lifted the Hurricanes past Florida into eighth place in the Eastern Conference.

Steven Goertzen scored his first career goal, and Shane Doan also scored for the Coyotes, who have lost six straight games in regulation for the first time since a 10-game losing streak in 1993-94 as the Winnipeg Jets.
