LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - Twenty-four hours after blanking the Kamloops Blazers 2-0, the Lethbridge Hurricanes posted another shutout, this time 3-0 as they hosted the Red Deer Rebels Saturday night in the Western Hockey League.
Kyle Beach opened the scoring with a power-play marker late in the second period for Lethbridge before defenceman Mitch Versteeg stretched the lead to 2-0 with 35 seconds left in the period.
Zach Boychuk added an empty-netter with 2:01 to go.
Hurricanes netminder Juha Metsola played the first period before giving way to Michael Tadjdeh, who turned aside everything he faced the rest of the way to preserve the shutout.
With the win the Hurricanes improve to 30-25-3-2.
The loss drops the Rebels to 19-31-1-7.
Cam Gorchynski took the loss for Red Deer.
