Holzapfel scores shootout winner to lead Moose Jaw past Saskatoon 5-4 @NHLdotcom

MOOSE JAW, Sask. - Riley Holzapfel scored once in regulation and added the shootout winner as the Moose Jaw Warriors held on for a 5-4 win over the Saskatoon Blades in WHL action Wednesday.

Brian Sommers, Terrance Delaronde and Joel Broda also scored for the Blades (30-15-4-5), who moved to within two points of the East Division-leading Regina Pats.

Todd Mathews made 17 saves in regulation and stopped all three Blades shooters in the shootout to earn the victory.

Curtis Hamilton and Travis Toomey scored shorthanded goals in the last minute and a half for Saskatoon (18-32-3-3), which also had goals from Derek Hulak and Stefan Elliott. Braden Holtby stopped 36 shots in the loss.
