Hitmen beat Tigers in shootout, deny Desjardins his 300th win @NHL

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. - Willie Desjardins will have to wait at least one more day to get his 300th Western Hockey League regular-season coaching win.

Brandon Kozun scored the only goal in a shootout and the Calgary Hitmen beat Medicine Hat 5-4 Friday, leaving Tigers coach and GM Desjardins just one win short of his milestone victory.

Kozun, Austin Madaisky, Chase Schaber, and Misha Fisenko scored in regulation for the Hitmen (3-0-0).

Kale Kessy, Wacey Hamilton, Bretton Cameron and Josh Koper scored for the Tigers (1-0-1).

Ryan Holfeld stopped 30 shots Medicine Hat. Martin Jones turned away 28 shots for Calgary.
