Heard scores winning goal as the Whalers get past the Sting 2-1 @NHLdotcom

SARNIA, Ont. - Mitchell Heard scored the winning goal 5:01 into the third period as the Plymouth Whalers defeated the host Sarnia Sting 2-1 on Sunday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Alex Aleardi also scored for the Whalers (28-9-3), who have now won six straight games.

Alex Basso scored the lone goal for the Sting (20-16-5).

Scott Wedgewood made 28 saves for the win, and first star of the game, while JP Anderson stopped 20 shots in a losing effort.

Plymouth went 0 for 2 on the power play as Sarnia scored once on nine opportunities with the man advantage.
