Habs' Metropolit, O'Byrne hurt against Sabres @NHLdotcom

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -Montreal lost center Glen Metropolit and defenseman Ryan O'Byrne to injuries in the second period against the Sabres.

Metropolit was described as having an upper-body injury after he collided with Buffalo forward Patrick Kaleta. O'Byrne limped off after being hit in foot with a shot. The Canadiens announced neither would return.

Montreal is already minus defenseman Andrei Markov, who's expected to miss four months after slicing a tendon in his ankle in a 4-3 overtime win at Toronto on Thursday.

Sabres defenseman Andrej Sekera was struck in the face with a deflected shot in the final minute of the second period. After laying on the ice face first, Sekera got up and skated off on his own and led to the dressing room.
