Vancouver Canucks center Henrik Sedin extended his consecutive-game streak to 679 when he stepped into the ice Saturday against the Calgary Flames. But for the second game in a row, he didn't make it to the finish.

"He's day-to-day," coach John Tortorella said after Vancouver's 3-2 shootout victory at Rogers Arena. "He tried, but you could see and I wasn’t going to put him at any more risk so we told him to take his stuff off."

Sedin was questionable for the game against the Flames. He left early due to sore ribs after he was cross-checked during the Canucks' 1-0 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday and didn't play the final 4:40.
He played 12:01 against the Flames, but did not take the ice again after ending a shift with 5:59 remaining in the second period.

"He's a pro," Tortorella said. "He tried to do whatever he could to help us. I told him to take his stuff off."
