ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -Anaheim Ducks goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere won't make the trip with the team to Dallas and Columbus, instead remaining behind to be with his family.
Giguere and his wife Kristen are dealing with a non-life-threatening medical condition with their son, Maxime Olivier, who was born on Wednesday.
"J.S. and his wife Kristen are dealing with an issue of much greater importance than hockey games," Ducks general manager Brian Burke said in a statement. "Our entire organization supports them during this difficult time and asks that their privacy be respected."
The Ducks, who already have clinched a postseason berth, play at Dallas on Friday and wrap up their regular season at Columbus on Saturday. Giguere is expected to rejoin the Ducks on Monday as they prepare for the playoffs.
