Generals forward Brett MacLean named OHL player of the month

Oshawa Generals forward Brett MacLean was named Ontario Hockey League player of the month Monday.

MacLean, 19, led the OHL with 10 goals and 20 assists in 14 games in January, during which the Generals went 9-3-1-1.

He leads the OHL with 50 goals and 51 assists in 45 games.

Belleville Bulls netminder Mike Murphy earned goaltender of the month honours after posting a 9-1-0-0 record with a 1.59 goals-against average and a .951 save percentage.

Peterborough's Zach Bogosian was defenceman of the month after amassing 19 points (5-14) and a plus-11 rating in 14 games, while London Knights forward Patrick Maroon was the league's rookie of the month after collecting 19 points (11-8) in 11 games.

Meanwhile, the Western Hockey League named Calgary Hitmen forward Ryan White player of the week.

White picked up five goals and five assists in four games, all Calgary wins.

In the American Hockey League, Milwaukee Admirals centre Cal O'Reilly earned player of the week honours after collecting six points (1-5) in two Milwaukee wins.
