Garret Sparks earns shutout as Toronto Marlies beat Adirondack Flames 2-0

TORONTO - Garret Sparks made 23 saves for the shutout as the Toronto Marlies defeated the Adirondack Flames 2-0 in American Hockey League action Sunday.

Byron Froese scored his fourth goal of the season late in the first period to open the scoring for the Marlies (13-15-4), who won their third straight game.

Brandon Kozun added an empty-netter with 28 seconds left. It was his third goal of the season.

Brad Thiessen made 18 saves for Adirondack (19-13-2).

Toronto failed to score on four power-play opportunities while the Flames were held scoreless on two chances.
