Froese scores late in the third to give Silvertips 2-1 win over Winterhawks @NHLdotcom

PORTLAND, Ore. - Byron Froese scored the game-winner with just over a minute to go in regulation as the Everett Silvertips defeated the Portland Winterhawks 2-1 in Western Hockey League play Sunday night.

Froese scored off a scramble at 18:44 of the third period for Everett(21-16-3), which also got a goal from Clayton Cumiskey on a funny bounce off the glass in the first period.

Brad Ross scored for Portland (25-16-2).

The night belonged to the goaltender of both teams as Silvtertips goalie Thomas Heemskerk made 32 saves, while Mac Carruth stopped 30 shots.

Portland was 0-for-3 on the power play, while Everett wound up 0-for-2.
