Jacob Lagace's three goals did the trick.

Lagace scored the opening two goals of the game and added an empty-netter for insurance as the Chicoutimi Sagueneens defeated the woeful Halifax Mooseheads 6-4 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Friday night.

Lagace, who also assisted on Nicolas Deschamps' second goal of the night, leads the Sagueneens with 10 goals and 17 points in 12 games this season. The Beloeil, Que., native, a fifth-round pick of the Buffalo Sabres in 2008, is in his third season with Chicoutimi and has eclipsed 60 points in each of his previous two seasons.

Lagace's first goal came late in the first period. He added another while short-handed six minutes into the second. After Halifax scored twice in the third to pull within one, Lagace completed the hat trick by scoring an empty-netter with 55 seconds remaining.
