DETROIT - Gustav Nyquist and Pavel Datsyuk each scored twice to send the Detroit Red Wings over the Los Angeles Kings 5-2 on Friday night.

Nyquist had a pair of power-play goals, and Datsyuk and Tomas Tatar also scored in a four-goal first period to help the Red Wings win their third straight at Joe Louis Arena.

Jimmy Howard made 28 saves ? one on Dustin Brown's penalty shot ? for his fifth victory of the season. Detroit outshot the Kings 35-30 and kept the Stanley Cup champions winless on the road.

Alec Martinez scored and Tyler Toffoli had a short-handed goal for Los Angeles.

It was the first multigoal game of the season for Nyquist, who scored in each of the Red Wings' first five games.

Jonathan Quick had 30 saves for Los Angeles after giving up four goals on 12 shots in the opening period.

Fans found "Get Well Gordie" signs on their seats when they arrived for Detroit's first home game since Hall of Famer Gordie Howe suffered a stroke Sunday at his daughter's house in Texas. The sellout crowd held up the signs and stood for an extended ovation after being told "Mr. Hockey" was watching the game on TV.

MAPLE LEAFS 4, BLUE JACKETS 1

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) ??? Daniel Winnik and Phil Kessel each had a goal and two assists, and Jonathan Bernier made 28 saves to lead Toronto past injury-riddled Columbus.

Nazem Kadri added a goal and an assist and David Clarkson also scored for the Maple Leafs, who are 3-0-1 on the road and 2-4-0 at home.

Kessel punched in a shot that went to video review before it was confirmed. Clarkson redirected a pass from Dion Phaneuf on the power play, and Kadri finished a 2-on-1 feed from Kessel in the third. Winnik scored his 50th NHL goal late in his 500th career game.

Cam Atkinson scored and Ryan Johansen had an assist to tie a Columbus record with his 10-game point streak to start the season. It was the fourth loss in a row for the Blue Jackets, who are without eight top players and lost forward Cory Tropp (illness) after the second period.

Curtis McElhenny filled in for starting goalie Sergei Bobrovsky, who is out a week with a broken finger, and made 23 saves for the Blue Jackets. Johansen is the only NHL player with a point in each of the first 10 games, totalling five goals and eight assists.

DUCKS 2, STARS 1, OT

DALLAS (AP) ??? Nate Thompson scored 2:30 into overtime to lift Anaheim over Dallas.

Thompson tipped a shot by Corey Perry from the top of the left circle past Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen.

Perry scored Anaheim's first goal at 16:45 of the second period to quiet a crowd that booed him every time he touched the puck. Perry leads the NHL with 10 goals in 12 games. Thompson scored his first of the season.

Antoine Roussel scored the tying goal for Dallas.

Ducks goalie Frederik Andersen made 21 saves and improved to 7-1-0 this season. He is 27-6-0 in his career.

FLAMES 4, PREDATORS 3

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) ??? Johnny Gaudreau sparked a third-period comeback with a goal and an assist as Calgary scored three times in just more than 4 minutes to beat Nashville.

With the Flames trailing 2-1, Jiri Hudler got the rally started with the tying goal 2:36 into the third. It came on a setup from rookies Markus Granlund and Gaudreau.

After TJ Brodie's pass deflected in off Predators defenceman Shea Weber to give the Flames the lead at 4:23, Calgary went ahead by two goals 2 minutes after that on Gaudreau's tally.

Sean Monahan also scored for the Flames (6-4-2).

James Neal had two goals and Craig Smith scored for the Predators (6-2-2).
