The Philadelphia Flyers
still have to win two more games in order to complete a historic comeback and advance past the Boston Bruins
and into the Eastern Conference Finals.
But they’ve already achieved a feat few teams to fall behind 3-0 in a best-of-seven playoff series ever have by forcing a sixth game.
The Flyers are the 162nd team in NHL history to lose the first three of a seven-game series and only the 14th to make it as far as Game 6.
The last teams to accomplish the feat were Dallas against Detroit in the 2008 Western Conference Finals and San Jose against Dallas in the 2008 Western Conference Semifinals. Both the Stars and Sharks were eliminated in six.
Five teams have forced a Game 7 and only two have come all the way back to win it -- Toronto against Detroit in the 1942 Stanley Cup Final and the New York Islanders
against Pittsburgh in the 1975 Quarterfinals.
