NEW YORK (AP) -Flyers center Jeff Carter is back in the Philadelphia lineup just two weeks after having surgery on his broken left foot.
Carter, expected to miss three to four weeks, returned much sooner on Friday night for the Flyers' game against the New York Rangers that carried significant playoff ramifications. Philadelphia entered with a two-point lead over New York, the club the Flyers will face in their final two regular-season games.
Carter, the team leader with 33 goals, missed eight games after he was struck by a shot from Atlanta's Clarke MacArthur in the first period on March 21. When he sat out two nights later, as Philadelphia faced Ottawa, Carter's streak of 286 consecutive games played - the third longest in team history - was snapped.
