Calgary Flames forward Micheal Ferland has a sprained knee and is week-to-week, general manager Brad Treliving said on Sunday.
"Micheal's got an MCL sprain in his knee so he will be week-to-week and we'll just see how things respond so he will begin treating that now and rehabbing it now," Treliving said. "He didn't make the trip so he is back in Calgary."
Ferland left Friday's 3-2 overtime win against the Detroit Red Wings in the second period and did not return.
Calgary recalled center Derek Grant from Stockton of the American Hockey League on Saturday who likely will replace Ferland in the lineup when the Flames play the New York Rangers on Sunday (7 p.m. ET; NHLN, TVA Sports, SN, SN1, MSG).
Ferland has one assist in seven games this season.
