Ferland has hat trick as Brandon Wheat Kings slip by Saskatoon 6-5 @NHLdotcom

SASKATOON - Michael Ferland scored his first three career playoff goals and set up another as the Brandon Wheat Kings slipped by the Saskatoon Blades 6-5 in the Western Hockey League on Friday night.

Brent Raedeke scored the winning goal for Brandon with 9:31 to play in the third period as Brandon took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinal.

Brenden Walker and Brayden Schenn also scored for the Wheat Kings.

Marek Viedensky scored twice for the Blades, who host Game 2 of the series on Saturday. Stefan Elliott, Walker Wintoneak and Jeremy Boyer rounded out the attack.

Saskatoon netminder Steven Stanford made 24 saves, while Jacob DeSerres stopped 35 shots for Brandon.
