OSHAWA, Ont. - Eric Tangradi's hat trick led the Belleville Bulls to a 6-3 win over the Oshawa Generals and a share of first place in the East Division, in Ontario Hockey League action Friday night.
Tangradi scored twice late in the second period to put the Bulls ahead 4-2, then early in the third period on the power play as Belleville beat Oshawa for the first time in three tries this season.
The Bulls improved to 13-5-1-1 and moved into a tie for first place with the Generals, who fell to 13-6-0-2.
Matt Beleskey scored twice, the second into an empty net, and Andrew Self had the other Belleville goal.
Brett MacLean continued his torrid pace for the Generals with two goals and an assist, giving him a league leading 23 goals for the season and 16 in just seven games this month.
John Tavares added a goal and an assist and now has 50 points, tops in the OHL.
The Generals scored all three of their goals on the power play, on eight chances, while the Bulls were two-for-nine with the man advantage.
Mike Murphy made 28 saves in goal for Belleville. Jakub Kovar stopped just 18 for Oshawa.
