LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - Dwight King scored 2:41 into overtime as the Lethbridge Hurricanes survived a potentially devastating collapse, beating the Kootenay Ice 5-4 in game two of their Eastern Conference semifinal series.
Lethbridge blew a 4-0 lead with 12 minutes to play in the first period but King rescued the home side by scoring on a three-on-two break early in the extra session.
King also scored in the first period, while Lethbridge also got goals from Zach Boychuk, Carter Bancks, shorthanded, and Mitch Fadden.
Kootenay got a pair of goals from Andrew Bailey and singles from Steve DaSilva and Ben Maxwell.
Juha Metsola earned the win in net for Lethbridge, making 30 saves, while Kris Lazaruk took the loss for Kootenay, making 29 stops.
Game three of the series, now tied 1-1, goes Tuesday in Cranbrook.
