Ducks recall goaltender Gibson @NHLdotcom

The Anaheim Ducks on Friday recalled goaltender John Gibson from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals.

Gibson, a 2011 second-round pick (No. 39), is 11-9-3 with a 2.61 goals-against average and .915 save percentage in 26 games in his first full professional season.

Last season Gibson helped the United States to the bronze medal at the 2013 IIHF World Championship, posting a 1.56 GAA and .951 save percentage in five games.

That came a few months after he backstopped the U.S. to the gold medal at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship. Gibson had a tournament-leading 1.36 GAA and .955 save percentage en route to being named the tournament's best goaltender and most valuable player.

Gibson also was invited to USA Hockey's summer Olympic evaluation camp.

To make room on the roster the Ducks sent goaltender Frederik Andersen to Norfolk.
