Dominik Volek scores winner in first period as Pats defeat Blades 2-1

REGINA - Dominik Volek scored the eventual winner as the Regina Pats defeated the Saskatoon Blades 2-1 in the WHL on Tuesday night.

Chandler Stephenson also scored for Regina (11-6-0), with assists from Jordan Weal and Lane Scheidl.

The Blades' (9-5-0) lone goal came from Colorado Avalanche draft pick Duncan Siemens.

After Regina scored two goals midway through the first, the game turned into a goalie duel between the Pats? Matt Hewitt and Saskatoon?s Andrey Makarov.

Hewitt finished with 26 shots while Makarov stopped 27 on the night.
